Did Having Your Tubes Tied Ruin Your Life?Do you feel like you’re going out of your mind after having your tubes tied? Have you completely lost your sex drive? Are you gaining weight that you can’t get rid of no matter what you do? Do you have heavy periods, headaches, and can’t sleep? Are you just plain miserable and feel like a different person altogether? We are here to give you hope and tell you that you can get back to feeling like your old self again.

Having a tubal ligation is one of the most common procedures done by women to prevent pregnancy. If you’ve had your tubes tied, you probably didn’t expect to feel much different afterwards. However, many women in fact feel very different – often much worse. The reason we want to address this procedure is because it affects your hormone production and balance, and can have devastating effects on your health.

What is a Tubal Ligation?
Tubal ligation, also known as having your tubes tied, involves surgery to cut or block the fallopian tubes to prevent pregnancy. It stops the egg from reaching the uterus. The tubes are either burned shut (cauterized), clamped off with a small clip or ring, or coils are placed in the tubes (tubal occlusion procedure).

What Does Tubal Ligation do to Your Hormones?
The blood supply to your ovaries is affected after this procedure, and ovarian function can be altered following a tubal ligation.(1) Since the blood supply to the ovaries is damaged during the surgery, it can cause a rapid decline of estrogen and progesterone, which are made by the ovaries. Depending upon the extent of the damage, blood supply to the ovaries may be slightly reduced or could be completely stopped. Therefore, it is not uncommon for women to experience symptoms of hormone imbalance and premature menopause such as fatigue, hot flashes, night sweats, irregular periods, mood swings, trouble sleeping, loss of libido, anxiety, brain fog, and weight gain, to name a few.

The US Collaborative Review of Sterilization reported increased cycle irregularity after tubal ligation. (2) Women who had a tubal ligation were 9% more likely to report hot flashes and 10% more likely to have other symptoms of menopause (such as poor sleep, night sweats, irritability, depression) compared with women who did not have a tubal ligation. (3)

Trigger Points for Hormone Imbalance
Besides a tubal ligation, there are other certain trigger points when women commonly experience the negative symptoms of hormonal imbalance:

• Puberty
• While taking birth control pills or counterfeit estrogen hormones
• After childbirth
• After a hysterectomy
• Menopause

I had a Tubal in 1982. This had to be the worst mistake I had ever made. Exactly one month after my tubal, I was in the ER with a strange rash . The Dr. said I must of ate a new food or used a new detergent. He gave me a shot of Benadryl and sent me on my way. I continues to feel worse every month it seemed like a new symptom would bother me. I suffered from Migraines for 12 years straight and never knew what had caused them.
It was not until 2008 that my Husband had received a booklet in the mail from the Hotze Health and wellness center. He calls it a mirical because he does not recall ever sending for this booklet yet he prayed for me ever night as he began to also thing I was loosing my mind or had the worst PMS EVER!!! We looked at the Brochure together and realized that this might be our only hope. The Health Center seemed to really care and know their Hormone Information. We called and had never spoke with such nice and caring people. I made an appointment with the Hotze Health and wellness and that had to have been one of the BEST choices I could of made.
