Darla’s Story – Infertility, Miscarriages, Hysterectomy
My life began again the day I stepped foot into the Hotze Health and Wellness Center in Katy, Texas in July of 2003.
After 11 years of failed infertility treatments, in vitro fertilization (IVF) attempts, tubal pregnancies, and miscarriages, finally ending with a hysterectomy, my body and mind were a train wreck. A dear friend begged me to call the Hotze Health & Wellness Center after seeing me hit bottom and hearing of my constant complaints of aches and pains and night sweats. Not just a little sweat on my brow, I would have to get up in the middle of the night (often twice a night) to change my bed clothes and sometimes the bedding (my husband loved that!). Even worse, I had no energy and my body ached everyday and all the time. I hurt so bad I could barely turn to reach my bottom (obviously a re-occurring problem!). No way could I keep up with my two young adopted sons! I would take my oldest to school and just pray I could stay awake long enough to get back home to the couch. I still had a small child at home, but could only ask him to watch T.V. or play with his toys – all I wanted to do was rest.
Prior to arriving at the Health and Wellness Center to begin what I call my “Hotze Healing”, my previous doctors had me on mega-doses of estrogen. I later found out this was keeping my hormones at levels similar to those reached during my IVF treatments. This was obviously of no benefit to me at this point in my life! I was also on testosterone, among other things, and of course, since I was being told all these symptoms and problems I was having were “in my head”, I was also taking Prozac.
I will never forget that glorious day in July when I entered the Hotze building. I walked in and saw that flight of stairs and broke into tears; I wondered how in the world I was ever going to get up those stairs, my body hurt so much. (Looking back now, if my mind had not been in such a fog, I might have looked for the elevator!) Well, thank God I made it! My life has been forever changed by climbing those stairs. My visit with Dr. Sheridan proved miracles. I was dazed when he told me he wanted to put some progesterone drops under my tongue, and see how I felt. After three doses of progesterone drops and before my visit that day was over, for the first time in many years I was literally free of pain! I could not believe it was true, so I excused myself to the restroom as soon as possible to see if I could turn to reach behind me. I was amazed – I could!!
It has been over three and a half years now and I have more energy than I ever imagined I could at the age of 49. The bio-identical hormones and the thyroid therapy prescribed by the Clinic has made my day-to-day life, as well as chasing after my two boys, a painless effort. My mind and body are no longer a train wreck. My mind is clearer and I again sleep well in a nice soft and “dry” bed.
I will be forever grateful that I walked those stairs to “Hotze Healing”.
