My mom, Wanda is what I call the Miracle Mom.  Some 5 years ago, my Dad heard Dr. Hotze on the radio.  This was the first miracle. The two of them made an appointment to visit with Dr. Hotze.  The sound in her voice after the visit was a tone that I had not heard in 15 years – the sound of HOPE.

My mom had always had migraine headaches, but since late 1984, they were occurring almost on a daily basis.  She went from doctor to doctor; from test to test; from hospital to hospital; from scan to scan and most debilitating of all, medicine to medicine.  She went through 37 different kinds of medicines including Botox injections before they were even popular.  She was taking 6-8 different medication 2-3 times a day.  The drug costs over the years soared to over $50,000.00 much of these so-called new drugs were not covered by insurance.  She went from a 45 year old beautiful mom to a woman who had lost a tremendous amount of weight; who had lost a lot of her memory and didn’t even remember things about her grandchildren. Mom would get lost in stores and couldn’t find her way to her car. She wouldn’t even remember phone calls that we had had on the phone.  She would repeat things that she had already told me. Our relationship suffered tremendously.  All she talked about was her health.  She was searching and rightly so for something that would relieve the pain in her head.  Her health kept declining and down, down, down she went until one evening, my dad called and told me to come to the house that he had called an ambulance, my mom couldn’t move.  After an ambulance ride and a long wait, the doctor couldn’t figure out what was wrong once again.  Later that same week, it happened again.  This time we went to a different hospital with different doctors and once again, the same outcome.  No one could figure out what was wrong.  My dad and I knew that there was something seriously wrong.  The doctor, from the world renowned headache clinic, that she had been seeing for the past 10 years, decided that he had done all that he could do and was not going to see her anymore – a doctor that those of you reading this might to this day be seeing, or know someone who is a patient of this doctor.  I like to call him “Doctor Drug Tester.”  His motto,” let’s just try this new drug that came out.”
 

Thank goodness for the radio show.  I was about to be resigned to the fact that I was going to loose my mom.  Miracle number two the vitamin regiment that Dr. Hotze put her on!  She was better almost immediately.  It was the most miraculous thing that I had ever seen.  Her color was better, her skin looked refreshed, she could remember things and she had the sound of HOPE.  I was on my way to getting my mother back!  How wonderful was that.  The patience of the staff, the professionalism of everyone involved was just spectacular.
  
Slowing but surely she got off of all of the drugs that had poisoned her body for so many years.  We laugh now about things that happened before she got “off the wagon.” It is to this day amazing the difference that the Wellness Clinic has made in all of our lives.
