Today is day 9 for those who accepted our 30 day yeast-free eating challenge. How are you doing? Many have posted comments on the yeast-free forum and it looks like you all are doing a great job! Congratulations on setting a goal and taking action to be successful. I’ve said it before, but I want to say again how very proud I am of each one of you.
Detoxifying your body from yeast overgrowth has many health benefits such as reducing inflammation, heartburn, indigestion, acid reflux, abdominal bloating, excess gas and belching. Eating yeast-free (along with taking certain supplements) to rid your body of yeast overgrowth can also improve your brain function and your energy, as well as offer many other health benefits.
The staff at Hotze Health & Wellness Center is doing great on the yeast-free eating program. It’s actually been fun! This past week, the staff enjoyed collaborating in a Yeast-Free Potluck Lunch that was absolutely delicious. We hope to share with you many of the creative recipes contributed by your fellow Yeast-Free with Me Team members.
Are you beginning to fall into a beverage rut drinking water, unsweetened tea, water and oh yeah, more water? I completely understand, so let’s give you a few ideas to get you out of that rut! Yeast-free beverages include water, coffee and tea and certain types of milks such as coconut milk, almond milk and rice milk.
Drinking hot coffee or tea can be a wonderful way to relax. One of my favorite coffees is Starbucks House Blend. I also enjoy drinking iced tea with lemon. I recommend that you avoid all decaffeinated coffees and teas unless they are naturally decaffeinated. It’s a little known fact that many drinks are decaffeinated using formaldehyde. It’s nice for keeping that frog from biology class fresh, but it’s not necessarily something I want in my body while I’m alive. I would assume that you would have to agree. Make sure that you look for the phrase “naturally decaffeinated”.
We have already mentioned Zevia, a no calorie soda that uses all-natural ingredients including stevia. This is another great option for a yeast-free beverage.
Today I’d like to give you a few great ideas to shake things up — literally! Here’s a recipe for a yeast-free smoothie. It’s delicious and for me, it can pass as a dessert! Try it, then post a comment to let us know what you think.
1 scoop chocolate, or vanilla whey protein powder (we recommend Jay Robb’s Protein Powder as it must not contain sugar)
2 tablespoons natural peanut butter (or almond butter)
1 cup chocolate or vanilla Almond Breeze (unsweetened)
5-6 ice cubes or until desired thickness
In a blender, mix all ingredients listed above. Add enough ice to meet your preference for thickness. Makes one smoothie. Enjoy!
