Protect Your Rights To Use Dietary Supplements
July 8, 2011
It was reported that on July 1, 2011, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued for complying with the New Dietary Ingredient (NDI) notification protocols contained in the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA). If fully implemented, this could ban all dietary supplements in the United States that were formulated after 1994.
This would mean that nearly all superfoods, multivitamins, detox supplements and medicinal herbal products could be banned from sale in the United States. Dietary supplements are crucial to the proper functioning of the human body. Not only is our food supply depleted of nutrients, we are also faced with numerous environmental assaults on our health. These supplements are used to boost our immune system, promote detoxification and prevent disease, and this would be detrimental for the health of our nation.
Could there be another agenda behind this New Dietary Ingredient notification protocol that is meant to protect the interest of the pharmaceutical companies? Do we want the FDA to tell the manufacturers of dietary supplements whether or not they can create new supplements?
